EURO 2024: The most visible publishers
20. June 2024The 2024 European Football Championship has been running for some time now and all countries have already mastered all the matches of the group stage. Football fans and occasional spectators alike are looking forward to a summer of sport – and we’ll be there live! In this article, we will take a look at the European Football Championship, also called EURO 2024, from a news SEO perspective. Which publishers can score points? Which keywords will make it to the top of the search engine results page (SERP)? And how will the News Boxes change over the course of the tournament? We track these and many other questions with the help of data from our Trisolute News Dashboard so that you are always up to date – and maybe even score a hit yourself.
This article will be updated regularly. So if you don’t want to miss anything, follow us on our social media channels, where every update will be announced.
General
The countries we will be looking at in this article from a news SEO perspective are:
- French-speaking Switzerland
- Spain
- England
- France
In advance we created comparable keyword clusters for the respective countries in our Keyword Manager. We focused primarily on the different names for the competition (e.g. ‘european championship’, ‘euro 2024’, ‘championnat d’europe de football 2024’ or ‘eurocopa 2024’), on the respective national players and coaches, as well as on the teams against which the team has to compete in the group stage.
The keyword clusters are likely to change over the course of the tournament, meaning that some keywords will be set to “inactive” and some will be added later. Exactly which ones will be involved will of course depend on the course of the European Championship.
We then look at the data for the respective time period in the KPI Dashboard, draw comparisons between the respective, country-specific reports and place a special focus on the top publishers and their top articles as well as the best-performing keywords. The analysis will focus on the mobile news boxes (“headlines”) and the mobile search result pages (SERPs).
For a better overview, the new phases of the EURO 2024 are always added at the top. The group stage, for example, can therefore be found further down in the article.
Final – Spain vs England in Berlin
The final has been played and the 2024 European Football Championship is already over. Spain and England faced each other in the final. But in the following section, we look at who the rivals were for visibility in the news boxes. To do this, we look at the News Boxes on the Spanish and English search results pages in the period from two days after the semi-final to one day after the final.
Spain
Let’s take one last look at the keywords we used to analyse the Spanish publishers around the European Championship final. We have deactivated the keywords that still belonged to the semi-final and crossed them out in the cluster below. Instead, we have added keywords relating to the final and marked them in bold below:
Keyword Cluster EURO 2024

On Sunday 14 July, the time had finally come: the final of the European Football Championship 2024 took place in Berlin and Spain faced England in the Olympic Stadium. While the first half was very uneventful, Spain kicked off immediately after half-time in the 47th minute and scored the first goal. Cole Palmer then equalised for England in the 73rd minute. However, the Spaniards took the lead in the 86th minute through Mikei Oyarzabal to win the European Championship. ¡España es campeona de Europa! ¡Viva España! But let’s take a look at who the winners are in the Spanish News Box between the 11th and 15th of July..
Let’s start by looking at the keywords with the most News Box rankings:
- eurocopa de fútbol 2024
- españa
- uefa euro 2024
- eurocopa
- fútbol
Now let’s take a look at the keywords relating to the players of the Spanish national team that achieved the most rankings:
- yamal
- rodri
- morata
- carvajal
- cucurella
A competition has broken out between Marca and AS for first place in visibility, with Marca ultimately winning this, but often battling with AS for visibility on the day of the final. Nevertheless, they were able to achieve 6,778 rankings, while AS was able to achieve a total of 5,869 rankings. Both publishers were able to achieve the most rankings for the keyword “selección de fútbol de españa”. In third place is Sport.es, which fluctuates in terms of visibility, but was able to significantly increase its visibility during the final match. This brings them to a total of 2,881 rankings, with their top keyword “fútbol” making a major contribution. In 4th place is UEFA, who were able to keep their visibility very constant except for the day after the final, when their visibility dropped slightly. Nevertheless, they were able to achieve a total of 3,354 rankings with their top keyword “uefa euro 2024”, among others. La Razón is once again among the top 5 most visible publishers from Spain, having increased their visibility on 13 July, but then dropped again. Their top keyword is also “uefa euro 2024” and they were able to achieve 2,707 rankings.
To conclude the Spanish analysis, let’s take a look at the articles that contributed the most to the visibility of the respective publishers:
- Marca: Inglaterra, así es el rival de España en la final: mucho corazón, menos fútbol… y una gran ‘flor’
- AS: España – Inglaterra, en directo: última hora de la final de la Eurocopa y de la selección hoy en vivo
- Sport.es: España – Inglaterra: final de la Eurocopa 2024 | La Selección Española campeona, última hora y reacciones

Let’s start again with the keywords that achieved the most rankings:
- euro 2024

- watkins
- palmer
- mainoo
- gareth southgate
- kane
Once again, bbc.co.uk took first place in terms of visibility, although they lost a significant amount of visibility from match day onwards and were only able to regain it 24 hours later. Nevertheless, with 6,109 rankings, they were able to achieve the most rankings and this is partly due to their top keyword “football”. While bbc.co.uk loses visibility on match day, The Guardian can build it up on the final day. This brings them to 5,383 rankings. Their top keyword is “euro 2024”. In third place is BBC, which increasingly loses visibility over the course of the day. Nevertheless, they manage 4,357 rankings, which is partly due to their top keyword “european championship”. Instagram is also back in the mix, with various publishers behind it, such as ESPN and Bleacher Report. The visibility trend here is particularly impressive: although Instagram started the race strongly, it drastically lost visibility from the day of the final and was unable to regain it. As a result, they only achieved 3,794 rankings, with the top keyword being “football”. Also among the top 5 publishers from the UK is UEFA. They also lost some visibility from the final day, but were still able to achieve 5,127 rankings. Their top keyword is again “uefa”.
Last but not least, let’s take a look at the articles of the top 5 publishers from the UK that contributed the most to the respective visibility between the 12th and 15th of July:
- bbc.co.uk: England 1-2 Spain: Euro 2024 final heartbreak for England as late Spain goal secures fourth European Championship

Semi-finals – Clear victories, great atmosphere in the host country Germany
The penultimate round of this European Championship is now over and this analysis is slowly coming to an end. But we’re not done yet. After all, the final still has to be played and we will also be looking at this from a news SEO perspective. But for now, we will take a closer look at the semi-finals. To do this, we will again look at the news box on the mobile search results page and draw the time span from two days after the quarter-final match of the respective country to one day after the respective semi-final match.
Spain
Before we can go deeper into the analysis, let’s first take a look at the keywords that we used for the semi-final from the Spanish perspective. Once again, we have deleted some keywords and subsequently crossed them out, added some new keywords and marked them in bold again.

Marca once again leads the top 5 most visible publishers in Spain for the European Championship 2024 around the semi-finals between 7 and 10 July. They were the most visible publisher in almost every hour. Only on the day before and after the match did their visibility drop slightly. Nevertheless, they were able to achieve a total of 5,668 rankings and their keyword that accounted for most of these rankings was “selección de fútbol de españa”. The day before the semi-final and the day after, As may have the highest visibility in a few hours, but they are still in second place, with 5,245 rankings, including their top keyword “euro 2024”, which gave them the most rankings. In the midfield is Sport.es, which was able to maintain its visibility with some fluctuations and thus achieve 2,375 rankings. Their top keyword is “fútbol”. El País is in fourth place for the first time and was able to increase its visibility on 7, 8 and 10 July in particular. Their top keyword is “semifinales”, which accounted for the majority of their total of 1,769 rankings. In 5th place is Mundodeportivo, which achieved a total of 1,891 rankings and thus has more rankings than El País, but they were still more visible. Nevertheless, their most ranking keyword was “fútbol”.

- euro 2024
- football
- championnat d’europe de football 2024

BFMTV has both the most rankings and the most visibility: They were able to increase and maintain their visibility from match day. They also achieved a total of 4,435 rankings, especially with their top keyword “équipe de france de football”, which achieved the most rankings. However, Eurosport.fr is close behind in second place and was particularly visible on 7 July. They were able to achieve a total of 3,775 rankings with their top keyword “football”, among others. In the upper midfield is Lequipe, which achieved a total of 3,677 rankings, with their top keyword also being “équipe de france de football”. Their visibility virtually stagnated until the day after the match. There, their visibility increased. In 4th place is FranceTVInfo, which entered this semi-final with high visibility, but lost it significantly. Nevertheless, they achieved 2,488 rankings and their top keyword, also “équipe de france de football”, contributed significantly to this. Among the top 5 most visible publishers for the first time is Footmercato, which also started strongly in the competition, but then lost ground just like France TVInof. Nevertheless, they were able to achieve even more rankings: 2,848 rankings. Their top keyword is “équipe de france de football”.

Keyword Cluster EURO 2024
Keyword Cluster England squad
Date range 8.7. – 11.7. (Match day 10.7.) Netherlands : England (1:2)
The second semi-final took place in Dortmund and even though the whole city was in Oranje fever – there were an estimated 160,000 Dutch people there – the Netherlands were still unable to win the match. Although they took the lead after just seven minutes, Kane equalised for England in the 18th minute. Just before it seemed to be going into extra time, Watkins scored the winning goal for England and the semi-final between the Netherlands and England ended in a 2-1 draw. Spain will now face England in the final. However, we will first analyse the semi-final from a news SEO perspective.
To do this, we will first look at the five keywords that achieved the most rankings in the mobile news box on the UK SERP:
- euro 2024
- uefa euro 2024
- football
- england euro 2024
- 2024 uefa european football championship
We then list the keywords relating to the England national team that achieved the most rankings:

First place goes to bbc.co.uk, which at times even managed to gain over 20% of visibility. They started the competition with a strong performance, but lost some visibility from the match day onwards. However, they were still able to achieve 7,660 rankings and their top keyword “football” in particular contributed significantly to this. From the point at which bbc.co.uk loses visibility, The Guardian can build up visibility. They have a total of 5,161 rankings and their top keyword is also “football”. Instagram, which is backed by various publishers such as ESPN and UEFA, is in the middle of the pack. Overall, Instagram was able to achieve the second-most rankings, 5,381 rankings, with its top keyword “semi-final”, among others. In fourth place is UEFA, which has significantly lost visibility, especially from match day onwards. Their top keyword is “uefa” and they also have a total of 3,966 rankings. In 5th place is BBC, which significantly increased its visibility for the semi-final and the day after. They achieved a total of 3,579 rankings, with their top keyword “european championship” accounting for most of their rankings.

Now that all the national teams from the four countries we are looking at here have advanced to the quarter-finals, we are analysing the keywords with the most rankings and the publishers with the highest visibility from Switzerland, Spain, England and France from a news SEO perspective. In this analysis, we are looking at the News Box. The time period starts with two days after each round of 16 match of the respective country and ends one day after the respective quarter-final.
Spain
The Spanish national team made the start. That’s why we look at the Spanish publishers first. Here, too, we have added new keywords and deactivated old, no longer suitable keywords. We have crossed out the deactivated ones in the box below and marked the newly added ones in bold. Here is the complete keyword cluster:

Their keyword with the most rankings is “selección de fútbol de españa” and this keyword has contributed greatly to their total ranking count of 7,359 rankings. They achieved a total of 6,144 rankings and their top keyword is “euro 2024”. Mundodeportivo, who had particularly high visibility on 3 July but lost it again over the following three days, is in midfield. They achieved a total of 3,167 rankings, with their top keyword “fútbol” once again making a major contribution. The most impressive development in terms of visibility was probably Sport.es: They initially lost visibility, but were able to increase visibility so much on match day and the day after that they had the third highest visibility at the end. This enabled them to achieve a total of 2,704 rankings and their top keyword is “eurocopa”. Nevertheless, they also achieved the most rankings: 5,264 rankings. Their top keyword is “équipe nationale suisse”. In second place is Eurosport.fr, who achieved the highest visibility on 3 and 6 July, match day. They achieved a total of 3,538 rankings and their top keyword “championnat d’europe de football 2024” contributed to this. Nevertheless, with 3,741 rankings, they were able to achieve the second-highest number of rankings and their top keyword “suisse” contributed to this. New among the top 5 publishers and then directly in fourth place is 24Heures, who were able to gain visibility on 3 July in particular, but then lost it again and suffered a sharp drop in visibility on the match day itself. As a result, they could achieve 2,836 rankings and their top keyword is “suisse”. Last but not least, Blick is also among the top 5 publishers. RTS was able to take the lead among the top 5 most visible publishers by a wide margin. They were able to maintain their visibility very consistently, especially near the match. They received a total of 35,607 rankings and the most for the keyword “football”. In second place is Le Matin, which is in direct competition with Wikipedia. Le Matin was able to achieve 13,568 rankings and also the most rankings for the keyword “football”. Let’s take a look at who was strongest on the SERP below. First, however, are the revised keyword clusters. After a very tough first half, in which both teams managed to score one goal, Spain scored three more in the second 45 minutes to beat Georgia 4:1. This means that the Spanish national team will advance to the quarter-finals against Germany. But first, let’s look at the visibility, rankings and the best keywords and articles between 26 June and 1 July on the SERPs for the above keywords. We look at all ranking types: News Box (Headline, Text, Carousel), Video Box, Publisher Carousel, Other Carousel, Web Story, Featured Snippet and Organic Rankings.
But let’s start with the top 5 keywords in the period from 26 June to 1 July on the Spanish SERP:
- españa
- fútbol

Next, let’s take a look at the top 5 keywords from the keyword cluster of the squad:
- luis de la fuente
- de la fuente
- zubimenedi
- cucurella
- yamal
Marca is clearly in first place. They achieved the highest visibility on every day and were able to increase this again for the match day on 30 June. The keyword “selección de fútbol de españa” in particular contributed to their 28,736 total rankings. In second place is YouTube, which was able to significantly increase its visibility on match day, but lost a lot of visibility on the match day itself. However, they were able to achieve the most rankings: 33,690 rankings. Their top keyword is also “selección de fútbol de españa”. AS is in the midfield with an exactly opposite visibility trend: they lost a lot of visibility until the day before the match, only to achieve the second-highest visibility on the day of the match. Their top keyword is also “selección de fútbol de españa” and they were able to achieve a total of 25,091 rankings. In 4th place and with a very similar visibility curve to YouTube is UEFA. They were able to achieve 16,576 rankings and especially with the keyword “uefa euro 2024” they gained the most rankings. Also among the top 5 most visible publishers is Mundedeportivo, which gradually lost visibility towards the match day, but was able to gain again on the match day. As a result, they gained a total of 8,379 rankings and their top keyword is “fútbol”.
Last but not least, let’s take a look at which articles from the top 5 publishers contributed the most to their visibility on the SERP around the European Championships in the period from 26 June to 1 July:

England
England also progressed from the group stage to the round of 16. We have therefore also adjusted the keyword clusters here and list them again below. The deactivated keywords, which are therefore no longer monitored, are crossed out and the keywords that were added for the round of 16 against Slovakia are marked in bold.
Keyword Cluster EURO 2024
Keyword Cluster England squad
Date range 26.6. – 1.7. (Matchday: 30.6.) England : Slovakia (2:1)
Until shortly before the end of the round of 16 match between England and Slovakia, it looked as if it was going to be a win for Slovakia. But in the 91st minute, Harry Kane scored the first goal for England and in the 95th minute of extra time, Jude Bellingham gave England the lead and made it 2:1. As a result, the English national team also progressed to the quarter-finals, where they will face Switzerland. In order to take a closer look at the news SEO perspective, we are again looking at the entire SERP between 26 June and 1 July for the above keywords. We include all ranking types: News Box (Headline, Text, Carousel), Video Box, Publisher Carousel, Other Carousel, Web Story, Featured Snippet and Organic Rankings.
Let’s first take a look at the top 5 keywords with the most rankings for the above clusters on the English SERP:
- european football championship
- euro 2024 england
- england euro 2024
- european championship
- england national football team
In the next step, we will now look at the top 5 keywords from the squad cluster:
- gareth southgate
- mainoo
- saka
- alexander-arnold
- trippier
With a total of 22,918 rankings, bbc.co.uk was able to climb to first place. They were able to significantly increase their visibility, especially on match day and the day after. Their top keyword “european football championship” contributed significantly to their performance. In second place is YouTube, which also achieved top visibility at the beginning of the observation period, but then dropped significantly and only gained some visibility again towards the end. With a total of 34,271 rankings, they have the most rankings. The keyword “england national football team” led to the most rankings. UEFA is in midfield, gaining visibility in the two days before England’s match against Slovakia and thus achieving the highest visibility. Afterwards, however, they lose visibility again. However, they were able to achieve 29,575 rankings and their top keyword is “2024 uefa european football championship”. In penultimate place is The Guardian, which lost some visibility two days before the match but was able to gain visibility again one day later. The keyword with the most rankings for them is “euro 2024 england” and they were able to achieve a total of 13,482 rankings. The last place in the top 5 most visible publishers is occupied by Sky Sports. Their visibility curve is exactly the opposite of that of The Guardian: they can gain visibility on 28 June, but then continuously lose visibility. However, they were able to achieve 15,332 rankings and their top keyword is “england euro 2024”.
Of course, we are now analysing which articles from the top 5 publishers contributed the most to their visibility around England’s round of 16 match:
- bbc.co.uk: England 2-1 Slovakia: Bellingham and Kane score as England reach Euro 2024 …
- YouTube: Match recap
- UEFA: UEFA EURO 2024: Meet the teams in the last 16
- The Guardian: England to play Slovakia in the last 16 of Euro 2024
- Sky Sports: Who next?! England’s potential route to Euro 2024 final
France
France is also one of the teams that made it to the round of 16 after a fantastique group stage. Therefore we also made some adjustments to the keyword clusters: the newly added keywords for France’s match against Belgium are marked in bold while the keywords we deactivated and therefore no longer monitor are crossed out. Let’s have a look at the new keyword clusters:
Keyword Cluster EURO 2024
Keyword Cluster France squad
Date range 27.6. – 2.7. (Matchday: 1.7.) France : Belgium (1:0)
Thanks to an own goal by Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen in the round of 16 match, Les Bleus made it to the quarter-finals of the EURO 2024, where they will go head to head against Portugal. But before that, we want to take a closer look against the France – Belgium-match from a news SEO perspective to see which publishers were on top, what keywords ranked highest and what the top-articles looked like for the date range from June 27 to July 2. For this analysis, we looked at all ranking types on the mobile SERPS: News Box (Headline, Text, Carousel), Video Box, Publisher Carousel, Other Carousel, Web Story, Featured Snippet and Organic Rankings.
Here are the top 5 highest-ranking keywords:
- football
- équipe de pologne de football
- équipe de france de football
- championnat d’europe
- allemagne
And here are the top 5 keywords only from the squad-specific keyword cluster:
- rabiot
- barcola
- didier deschamps
- coman
- dembélé
Let’s now look at the top 5 publishers on the French mobile SERPs and how their rankings have progressed throughout the considered date range:
Pole position goes to lequipe.fr with 40,000 rankings on the spot and the top keyword “équipe de pays-bas de football”, which contributed most to their visibility. Compared to the competition, this publisher was able to stay on top throughout the entire time-range while their rankings stayed quite consistent. Second place goes to the video-platform youtube.com, who were able to reach 38,719 rankings, with their top-keyword being “belgique”. In their course of rankings, you can see quite the drop on June 30, the day before the match, which they can only recover from on July 2, the day after the match. With 23,528 rankings and the top-keyword “équipe de pologne de football”, third place goes to foormercato.net. Similar to YouTube, their rankings drop the day before the Belgium-match but cannot seem to recover afterwards and therefore drop below all competitors on July 1 and 2. Fourth place goes to eurosport.fr, with 15,137 rankings and the top-keyword “football”. With this publisher’s course of rankings you can see a slight peak on matchday, where they are able to move into third place. With 13.249 rankings and the top-keyword “huitème de finale france belgique”, fifth place goes to bfmtv.com. After an obvious raise on June 30, they are able to move into third place for that day, then slightly drop back down into fourth place on matchday and, though staying quite consistent, move back into third place because of a slight drop in visibility by Eurosport the following day.
Last but not least, let’s look at the articles that each contributed most to the top 5 publishers’ visibility:
- L’Equipe: Calendrier et résultats Euro 2024 : Phase finale – Football
- YouTube: Le voyage en Belgique de Ouiam prend une tournure inattendue… Emprisonné ! 😨 #shorts #voyage
- Footmercato: France – Pologne : la réponse cinglante de Deschamps sur le cas Griezmann
- Eurosport: L’Euro 2024 et la crainte que le football se meurt
- BFMTV: France-Belgique: les Bleus arrachent leur billet pour un quart de finale face au Portugal

Firstly, we look at the Swiss performance, followed by the Spanish and then the England matches. Last but not least, we look at France’s performance.
Switzerland
In their first match, Switzerland beat Hungary 3:1 but is surely hoping that Hungary will beat Scotland going forward. The competition is also heating up amongst publishers in the mobile News Boxes of the French version of the Swiss Google SERP.

Date range 12.6. – 16.6. (Matchday: 15.6.) Hungary : Switzerland (1:3)
We start our analysis with the Swiss match. To do so, we will first look at the days leading up to the matchday, the matchday itself and the day after. The following chart shows the five most visible publishers from French-speaking Switzerland for the above keyword clusters:
The most visible publisher is lematin.ch, which scores consistently over ten percent visibility throughout the whole duration. They also score more than twice as many rankings as the fifth place – 5513 altogether. They score the most rankings for the keyword “suisse”, also a lot of the ranking articles were not football correlated. Blick.ch is in second position with 4665 rankings. Their most fruitful keyword was the football coach’s name “yakin”. Football.ch stands not surprisingly also on the podium with 1948 rankings and a skyrocketing performance curve. They score the highest number of rankings for “association Suisse de football”. More rankings, but a little less visibility is achieved by rts.ch on fourth position with 3042 mobile News Box rankings. Again, 430 of those were achieved by the keyword “suisse”, a keyword not only related to football. Last but not least is eurosport.fr. They get 2182 of all rankings. Their keyword with the most rankings is “championnat d’europe de football 2024”.
The top 5 keywords were:
- suisse
- euro 2024
- football
- yakin

Top 5 keywords for the squad cluster:
- murat yakin
- yakin
- aebischer
- xhaka
- embolo
Date range 15.6. – 17.6. (Matchday: 16.6.)
Now, we take a look at only the weekend and match day. To enhance the individual fluctuations, we will choose an hourly granularity to look at the data.
Similarly, as before, we also take a closer look at the keywords with the most rankings for the top 5 publishers in the mobile News Box of the French Google SERP for Switzerland:

- Radio Télévision Suisse (1963 Rankings; Top-Keyword “suisse”)
- Eurosport (1267 Rankings; Top-Keyword “championnat d’europe de football 2024”)
Two sites talk about general EURO 2024 results – one publisher, lematin.ch, and the official page of the ASF, football.ch. Blick.ch, again, talks about a person, but this time a player and not the coach. Both eurosport.fr and rts.ch write about individual matches.
In the next step, we look at the articles of the top 5 publishers that contributed the most to the visibility of the respective publisher over the days surrounding the match day:
- Le Matin: L’Euro 2024 en un coup d’œil
- SFV/ASF: Association Suisse de Football – Équipe nationale masculine …

Lematin and Blick are in a clear race for first place, with Lematin frequently achieving the highest visibility. Date range 22.6. – 24.6. (Matchday: 23.6.) Switzerland : Germany (1:1)
The last match of the group stage could not have ended more excitingly. Although both teams, Switzerland and Germany, were already certain to reach the round of 16, Niclas Füllkrug’s equalizer in the 93rd minute allowed Germany to position themselves as group winners, putting the Swiss team in second place.
This development is also measurable in the top 5 keywords in Switzerland:
- euro 2024
- suisse
- football
- équipe nationale suisse
- allemange
When only looking at the squad-related keywords, you can find the Swiss goal scorer Dan Ndoye among the top 5:
- yakin
- murat yakin

Just as in the other matches, Lematin once again took the lead in the Swiss national team’s third match. They achieved their highest visibility on the day before the match in particular. They achieved a total of 3,245 rankings and their top keyword “équipe nationale suisse” contributed greatly to this. In contrast to the other matches, Eurosport now has the second-highest visibility, achieving 1,785 rankings. With some fluctuations, they were able to maintain their visibility well. Keyword Cluster Spain squad
Date range 10.6. – 16.6. (Matchday: 15.6.) Spain : Croatia (3:0)
In the days leading up to the Spaniards’ matchday, it is clear that many publishers have been able to increase their visibility. The following graphic from the Trisolute News Dashboard shows who these publishers are:
The race for visibility is clearly led by marca.com among the Spanish publishers. They can claim the top visibility on match day and stand out from all other competitions. Their top keyword that contributed to this performance is “selección de fútbol de españa”. In contrast, as.com came in second place. They were able to build up their visibility steadily over the observation period. This was crowned on the day after the match: Here they even caught up with the first-placed marca.com. They achieved the most visibility for the keyword “euro 2024”. Mundodeportivo.com fell somewhat behind in the race, as they were able to gain some visibility at first, but lost it again over the observation period up to the match day. However, similar to second place, they were also able to gain visibility on the day after the match. Their top keyword is “fútbol as well as sport.es, which achieved the fourth-highest visibility. Their visibility increased until 13 June and then levelled off again. UEFA itself is also among the top 5 most visible publishers. Their top keyword is “uefa euro 2024”.
The top 5 keywords in this date range:
- euro 2024
- españa
- uefa euro 2024

- morata
- williams
- laporte
Date range 14.6. – 16.6. (Matchday: 15.6.)
In the next step, we take a closer look at the period directly around the match day. To do this, we have set the granularity to hours. The following chart from our tool shows how the visibility of the top 5 most visible publishers developed around the Spanish match.
In addition to visibility, we now also look at the number of rankings and the respective top keyword of the individual top 5 publishers. The rankings refer to the day before the match, the match day and the day after.

- Mundodeportivo.com (1.812 Rankings; Top-Keyword “fútbol”)
- Sport.es (1.735 Rankings; Top-Keyword “españa croacia”)
The top keywords clearly show that only sport.es refers to the Spain match. The keywords with the most rankings from the four other publishers relate more to the European Championship in general. It is particularly clear that as.com, marca.com and uefa.com have very clear keywords relating to the European Championship.
