December 2025Colombia’s 2025 news visibility in Google Search was shaped by a strong focus on domestic politics and governance, with sustained attention on executive leadership, institutional reforms, and security-related developments. At the same time, international crises and global political figures remained consistently present in Colombian results, showing how regional and global events continued to intersect with national news priorities. This Year in Review looks back at how news about Colombia surfaced in Google Search, based on visibility data from the Trisolute News Dashboard.
The analysis covers the period from January 1, 2025, to November 30, 2025, and combines visibility signals across mobile and desktop devices. All ranking types were included, spanning News Box placements and additional SERP formats such as Video results, publisher and other carousels, Web Stories, Featured Snippets, Visual Digests, and organic rankings.
For this overview, the focus is on the following Google news categories in Colombia: Noticias destacadas (Top Stories), Titulares (Headlines), Colombia (National news), Internacional (World), Negocios (Business), Ciencia y tecnología (Science and Technology), Entretenimiento (Entertainment), Deportes (Sports), and Salud (Health). Each category section highlights the top three publishers by visibility score and shows how many rankings they generated and across how many keywords. It also summarizes the 25 most ranked keywords in that category and assesses the role of AI Overviews based on total SERPs per keyword, how often AI Overviews appeared, and what share of SERPs they represented.
As with all News Dashboard analyses, rankings reflect how prominently Google surfaced topics and publishers. They do not directly measure audience interest, even though search behavior can influence visibility, and they are shaped by additional factors such as Google’s interpretation of relevance, freshness, and context. These patterns help publishers benchmark performance by category, understand where visibility concentrates by topic, and identify SERP environments where certain formats, including AI Overviews, are becoming more influential.

Top 3 Publishers
Visibility in Noticias destacadas was led by Infobae, which ranked first with a visibility score of 11.95%. The publisher generated 166,621 rankings across 3,350 keywords, securing the strongest presence in breaking and high-impact news. El Tiempo followed closely in second place, reaching a visibility score of 10.90% and recording 132,862 rankings from 3,215 keywords. El Colombiano placed third with a visibility score of 7.47%, supported by 88,824 rankings across 2,574 keywords. Overall, the category showed a clear lead by Infobae, with the other two national outlets forming a competitive second tier.

With a score of 11.39%, the publisher achieved 588,563 rankings across 7,611 keywords, establishing a strong and sustained presence across recurring news topics. El Tiempo ranked second with a visibility score of 10.10%, supported by 460,124 rankings from 7,159 keywords and maintaining broad topical coverage. El Colombiano followed in third place, reaching a visibility score of 7.18% and generating 315,402 rankings across 5,635 keywords. The distribution highlights Infobae’s strength in long-running headline visibility, alongside solid competition from Colombia’s major national publishers.
