Prime Day 2026 was a mega multi-day sales event hosted by Amazon. The Google SERP looked quite different this year compared to past Prime Day events. In addition to an expansion of Google’s AI-powered features, we also documented SERP visibility growth for social media platforms.

How did these changes impact the Google visibility of traditional news publishers for Prime Day coverage? We used the Trisolute News Dashboard to review the data on the Mobile SERP, as well as AI search and Discover.

• Several publishers hit their peak in Mobile News Box visibility on Thurs. 6.25.26. the third day of the sale
• Yahoo, Today saw a visibility rise on the last day of the event, Fri. 6.26.26
• CNN earned the most rankings for the top 5 keywords
• 7 of the top 12 publishers are tech news publishers

• NBC Select dominated in YouTube rankings for the keyword “when is prime day”
• On Facebook, the rankings were dominated by Amazon-owned social accounts: Amazon Home and Amazon.com with short video the winning format
• Instagram rankings were more mixed, though Amazon’s official accounts still dominated.

Social-heavy SERP insights: 06.23.26-06.26.26 [includes What people are saying ranking type]

• Top social platforms: YouTube, Instagram, Reddit.  Facebook wasn’t a factor here but they did well in video box rankings (see above)

Both NBC News and Mashable’s top-cited articles in AI Mode were focused on identifying deals with legitimate value vs hype:

Google Discover Prime Day entities: 6.23.26-6.26.26

• Based on a small set of top US publishers, Prime Day content did not perform that well on Discover
• Top-performing articles promoted specific brand deals or store deals (sales events beyond Prime Day)

6.27.26-6.28.26 data (weekend after official end of Prime Day sale)

For the top 10 publisher set, visibility rankings got much more competitive over the weekend than during the main event dates.

Takeaways for publishers

• Strong performance for value-driven and expertise-led headlines: framing like “deals that are actually good” resonated by cutting through hype
• Both roundups and niche category breakdowns performed well; breakouts by brand (e.g., Apple) and category (tech, beauty) alongside broad overviews
• Deal roundup articles still earned the most SERP visibility
• Amazon’s official social accounts ranked well for core keywords such as “when is prime day” and short video format was popular.
• Image selection:
  • CNN went with a pool-theme for their deal roundup article images 
  • Page Six used a colorful collage template for images.

  Headlines spotlighting deals with value focus performed well:
